The objective of this operation was to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump had announced the operation on social media without reportedly coordinating with Gulf allies, angering Riyadh. A direct call between Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman failed to resolve the dispute, according to reports. The operation lasted just 36 hours. Only two ships made it through the strait before the mission was halted.
