Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro opened up about the future of cinema, artificial intelligence and his lifelong love for British horror while receiving the prestigious BFI Fellowship in London.

The director of The Shape of Water and Pan's Labyrinth passionately defended human-made art, saying AI-generated movies “make no artistic sense.” Del Toro also reflected on monsters, politics, fear and why horror remains one of the most powerful storytelling tools in cinema.
