During a Pentagon press briefing with American General Dan Caine, U.S. Secretary of State, Pete Hegseth claimed that Iran "begged" for a truce, maintaining that the US achieved a "decisive military victory" in its war with Iran. “The new Iranian regime understood that a deal was far better than the fate that awaited them. The Iranians were humiliated and demoralised. Iran begged for this ceasefire,” he said. Hegseth stressed that Iran’s leadership had been “systematically eliminated". He added that Iran’s military production capabilities have been crippled, saying the country can no longer build missiles, rockets, drones or UAVs. “The US had a decisive military victory over Iran in Operation Epic Fury that began on February 28. Iran’s missile programme is functionally destroyed,” he said.
