President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday to create a national list of verified eligible voters. This move will likely face legal challenges as the country heads into this year's midterm elections.

Under the executive order, the Department of Homeland Security will work with the Social Security Administration to create a list of eligible voters in each state. Trump is also seeking to bar the U.S. Postal Service from sending absentee ballots to those not on the state's approved voter list.

After news of the executive order broke, KATU News spoke with Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read about how he plans to file a lawsuit to block the order.
