Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded a short but high-impact visit to the United Arab Emirates, marking his eighth trip to the Gulf nation in the last twelve years. According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, the visit reflected the deep trust and strategic partnership shared by India and the UAE.
Several major agreements were signed during the visit across energy, defence, investment, maritime cooperation and advanced technology. India and the UAE expanded cooperation in strategic petroleum reserves, gas storage and long-term LPG supply arrangements involving ADNOC and Indian energy companies.
The two countries also signed a framework for a strategic defence partnership, focusing on defence manufacturing, technology collaboration and industrial cooperation. Investment commitments worth nearly five billion dollars were announced through major UAE entities and financial institutions.
Technology cooperation received a major boost with plans for an eight-exaflop supercomputing facility in India to support the country’s AI ambitions. Both sides also operationalised the Maitri virtual trade corridor to improve maritime commerce and supply-chain resilience.
Regional security, including attacks on shipping and tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, also featured prominently in the discussions.
