Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun urged Washington to honor its commitments under the One-China policy and criticized a joint statement by the U.S., France, the United Kingdom and Germany expressing concern over Chinese coast guard patrols near Taiwan. Beijing also lashed out at Taiwan's ruling Democratic Progressive Party, accusing it of promoting separatism and damaging cross-strait relations. The remarks come amid rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait and growing scrutiny of China's military and maritime activities in the region.
