Putin’s Time Is Almost Up

Putin will fall. Russian history says so, and the pattern is clear once you see it.
Russia repeats the same seven-stage cycle. Chaos creates demand for a strong hand leader. The strong hand restores order through force. He expands outward, conquering territory and building buffer states. His power weakens. The system fails. A short period of reform begins, then collapses. Chaos returns. The cycle starts again.
This is the third pass. The first ran from the Time of Troubles to the Russian Civil War. The second ran from the 1917 revolution to the Soviet collapse. The third started when Putin took power.
Russia is at stage five right now. The strong hand is weakening. Putin is 73 years old. He has not named a successor. He is losing in Ukraine. His army takes more casualties each month than it can recruit to replace.
He cannot last much longer.
When he falls, there will be a short window of hope. A new democratic Russia will appear to emerge. That hope will not last. The cycle will run its course, and chaos will produce the next Russian dictator.
