Should ChatGPT Write Your Entire Screenplay?

A client asked me if he could use ChatGPT to write his entire screenplay.

My answer? Technically, sure. But that doesn't mean you should.

Without a baseline of screenwriting knowledge, you're going to take whatever Chat gives you at face value. And that's dangerous.

It's the same as a teenager using AI to write a college essay before they've learned how to research, form an argument, or develop an opinion. The tool can produce words, but that doesn't mean the work is good.

ChatGPT should enhance what you already know.

Use it to:

🟢 Brainstorm
🟢 Challenge your ideas
🟢 Push past the obvious answer
🟢 Research possibilities
🟢 Dig deeper into structure and character

But you can only do that if you know what questions to ask.

Learn the craft first. Then use ChatGPT as a process tool, not a substitute for the process.
