AIは本当に賢いのか？
ChatGPT、Claude、GeminiのようなLLMは、文章作成、要約、翻訳、プログラミングなどで驚くほど便利になりました。
昔の分かりにくいWeb検索と比べれば、知識を整理して返してくれるだけでも、すごい時代になったと言えます。
しかし、AI研究の第一人者ヤン・ルカン氏は、現在のAIはまだ十分スマートではないと指摘しています。
特に弱いのは、現実世界の理解です。
たとえば、ペンを立てて手を離せば倒れる。
これは子どもでも分かります。
しかし、どちらに倒れるかまでは、細かすぎて分かりません。
人間は、「何が予測できて、何が予測できないか」を自然に判断しています。
今のLLMは、言葉のパターンからそれらしい答えを返せても、現実世界の物理的なフィードバックを十分に理解しているわけではありません。
そこで注目されているのが、ワールドモデルや物理世界を理解するAIです。
AIが世界を見て、触って、試して、失敗して、学ぶ。
その先には、人型ロボットや家庭用ロボット、産業用ロボットの進化があります。
AIが今より賢くなり、人型ロボットとして動けるようになったら、人間は楽になるのか。
それとも仕事を奪われるのか。
それともAIの方から「あっち行け」と言われるのか。

Is AI really smart?
Large language models like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are already extremely useful.
They can write, summarize, translate, code and explain complex topics.
Compared with old-fashioned web search, simply getting a clear answer feels like a huge leap forward.
But AI pioneer Yann LeCun argues that today’s AI is still not truly smart.
The biggest weakness is its understanding of the physical world.
For example, if you stand a pen on its tip and let go, even a child knows it will fall.
But no one can accurately predict exactly which direction it will fall.
Humans naturally understand what can be predicted and what cannot.
Current LLMs, however, generate plausible language based on patterns in training data.
They do not fully understand physical feedback from the real world.
That is why researchers are now focusing on world models and AI systems that can understand, predict and interact with the physical world.
If AI can see, touch, try, fail and learn, humanoid robots may become far more useful in homes, factories and daily life.
But then comes the big question.
If AI becomes smarter and takes a human-like form, will it make our lives easier?
Will it take our jobs?
Or will AI one day tell humans to “go away”?
