TACOMA, WA: Union longshore workers in the Port of Tacoma are sounding the alarm about an urgent threat of jobs lost on the ports to AI and automation. Potentially thousands of shifts per year are at risk. TRNN speaks with Zack Pattin and Brian Skiffington of ILWU Local 23 from the port of Tacoma.

They and their union are asking folks to sign their petition telling the Port of Tacoma’s elected commissioners to block Husky Terminal's request to use AI: "The members of ILWU Local 23 are fighting to save their jobs from automation and AI... Husky Terminal, which leases ship-to-shore cranes from the Port of Tacoma, is trying to replace marine clerks with job-killing tech."
