Resident Country Director of International Investments LLC, Ibrahim Adjei, is urging government to fully clear its $2.8 billion IMF debt in order to completely exit remaining policy conditions.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, he argued that although Ghana has completed its $3 billion Extended Credit Facility programme, true economic independence will only be achieved when all outstanding IMF obligations are settled.

His remarks follow government’s announcement of the successful conclusion of the IMF-supported programme, sparking renewed debate on debt repayment and economic sovereignty.
