When xenophobic attacks forced Ghanaians to leave South Africa and return home, many feared an uncertain future.

But in a remarkable gesture of solidarity, Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama pledged 100 immediate jobs for returning citizens. According to Ghana's Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, nearly 200 employment opportunities have already been secured through public and private-sector support.

In this video, we examine:

✅ Ibrahim Mahama's intervention and what it means
✅ Ghana's response to its returning citizens
✅ The broader challenge of xenophobia in South Africa
✅ The silence of the African Union
✅ What this means for the future of Pan-Africanism
✅ Whether Africa is living up to its ideals of unity and solidarity

As Pan-Africans, we must ask ourselves difficult questions. Can we truly speak of African unity if Africans continue to face hostility in other African countries? And what responsibilities do governments, businesses, and continental institutions have when African citizens are in danger?

Watch and share your thoughts in the comments.

Question of the day:
If Africans cannot live, work, and feel safe in other African countries, is the Pan-African dream still alive?
