Putin thanked Sultan Ibrahim for attending the commemorations and praised the development of trade, diplomatic, and international cooperation between Russia and Malaysia, including through ASEAN and the United Nations. Sultan Ibrahim described Russia as his “second home” and honoured the sacrifices of the Russian people during World War II. Both leaders noted upcoming diplomatic anniversaries, with Malaysia and Russia set to mark 60 years of relations in 2027. Sultan Ibrahim also invited Putin for a future state visit to Malaysia.
