Businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama has fully funded the $15,000 required for a life-saving brain tumour surgery in India for 14-year-old Hadeya Mohammed, a first-year student of Ghana Senior High School (Ghanasco).

Hadeya’s condition, which had begun affecting her hearing and disrupting her education, was first highlighted in a Channel One TV report on April 6, 2026.

Following the report, support was mobilised to ensure she receives urgent medical treatment abroad.

The intervention has been widely praised as a life-saving act of philanthropy, giving the young student a renewed chance at recovery and education.

The case highlights the role of private individuals and media advocacy in supporting critical healthcare needs in Ghana.
