'I Move That We Subpoena Them Right Now': Raskin Demands Action On Trump's $1.8B DOJ 'Slush Fund'

Jamie Raskin came to this hearing with five arguments and one motion.

The motion: subpoena five Trump officials over a $1.8 billion fund Congress never authorized.

Right now.

The SPLC prosecution:

For decades the Southern Poverty Law Center shared intelligence on KKK and neo-Nazi plots with the FBI. The FBI used it. It worked. Now the DOJ under Todd Blanche is prosecuting the SPLC for fraud — for paying undercover informants to infiltrate those groups.

Raskin's three questions:
- Where are the defrauded donors?
- Where are the civil lawsuits that always follow fraud?
- Where is a single complainant?

Not one SPLC donor has come forward. Not one lawsuit has been filed.

For comparison — Trump University. Shut down by the New York AG. 8,000+ defrauded students. Three certified class action lawsuits. $25 million settlement. That is what real fraud looks like.

The domestic terror record:

The new national counterterrorism strategy identifies drug cartels, Islamist terror, and left-wing extremists as top threats. Makes zero mention of far-right extremism, white supremacist violence, or domestic neo-Nazi terror.

The data: 152 attacks and 112 Americans killed by right-wing extremists over a decade vs 35 attacks and 13 deaths from left-wing extremists.

The larger threat was erased from the official record.

The January 6th pardons:

1,500+ people pardoned on day one. Violent felons. Seditious conspirators. No review of criminal backgrounds. No requirement for contrition or repayment of damages.

One pardoned defendant — Andrew Paul Johnson — sexually assaulted two 12-year-old children after release. He told those children that because he stormed the Capitol he would receive $10 million and could split it with them if they stayed silent. He is now back in prison for life.

The IRS settlement:

Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS. Judge questioned standing. Career IRS lawyers drafted a memo calling it deeply flawed and recommended dismissal. DOJ entered a $1.8 billion settlement instead.

The Treasury General Counsel resigned the same day the deal was announced.

A dismissed case cannot produce a settlement. Congress never authorized this fund. Congress never appropriated it. The power of the purse belongs exclusively to Congress.

The 14th Amendment:

Section 4: The United States shall not assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion. All such debts, obligations, and claims shall be held illegal and void.

Raskin's conclusion: every payment from this fund is constitutionally prohibited. The money belongs to the taxpayers. It will be recovered.

The five subpoenas:
- Todd Blanche — orchestrated the settlement
- Stanley Woodward — signed it
- Scott Bessent — will oversee the payout
- Frank Bisignano — signed off for the IRS
- Brian Morrissey — resigned the day it was announced

Motion seconded. Chairman blocked it. The record captured it anyway.

$1.8 billion. Congress never authorized it. A Treasury General Counsel resigned. The 14th Amendment says it's illegal.

👇 Drop a comment below. Congress never authorized $1.8 billion for this fund. The Treasury's top lawyer resigned the day it was announced. What does that tell you?
