The Ministry of Finance has rejected claims of failing to consult freight forwarders before the rollout of the new AI customs system in Ghana.

Victor Kofi Baidoo, Head of Revenue, Assurance and Compliance Enforcement at the Ministry, speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, acknowledged early delays and confusion during implementation. He emphasized that:

Stakeholder engagements were held, including meetings to explain how the AI system works.
Measures are being introduced to clear backlogs at ports and improve operational efficiency.
The Ministry remains committed to resolving challenges and ensuring smooth customs operations for all freight forwarders.
