Treasury has withheld the July equitable share transfer for Mahikeng and Ditsobotla municipalities. It cites failure to address unauthorised, irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure and implement consequence management.
Both municipalities, along with the Ngaka Modiri Molema Municipality, are among 13 municipalities in the North West affected by the funding freeze. Newzroom Afrika's Refiloe Seboko has more.
