🔨 GAVEL DROP — Real Hearings. Real Analysis. No Fluff.

In a contentious Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Attorney General Pam Bondi repeatedly refused to answer direct oversight questions from Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) about FBI payments, Epstein investigations, and whether the FBI found photographs of Donald Trump with young women in Jeffrey Epstein's possession.

The exchange culminated in Bondi attacking Whitehouse personally, accusing him of "taking money from one of Epstein's closest confidants" rather than answering whether the FBI found the alleged photographs.

⚖️ THE QUESTIONS BONDI REFUSED TO ANSWER:

🔴 THE $50,000 FBI PAYMENT:
Whitehouse asked repeatedly what happened to $50,000 in cash the FBI reportedly gave to informant Charles McGonigal (referred to as "Homeman" in the hearing) in a paper bag.

SPECIFIC QUESTIONS BONDI WOULDN'T ANSWER:
- Did the FBI get the money back?
- Did the informant keep it?
- If he kept it, did he report it on his tax returns?

BONDI'S RESPONSES:
- "Talk to the FBI"
- "Discuss this with Director Patel"
- "There was no wrongdoing found"

WHITEHOUSE: "They report to you. Can't you answer this question?"

The Attorney General oversees the FBI. Saying "ask the FBI" is not an acceptable answer to congressional oversight.

🔴 OPR INVESTIGATION OF AMILE BOIE:
Whitehouse asked about an Office of Professional Responsibility investigation into prosecutorial misconduct by Amile Boie (now a federal judge) related to the same informant case.

BONDI'S RESPONSE:
"I can't discuss pending litigation nor personnel matters."

🔴 TREASURY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY REPORTS (SARs):
Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network automatically sends suspicious activity reports to DOJ when banks flag potentially criminal transactions.

WHITEHOUSE: "Hundreds related to accounts of Jeffrey Epstein. How many of those Treasury SARs did you or Director Patel investigate?"

BONDI'S RESPONSE:
Instead of answering, she attacked Whitehouse: "I'm not sure if you're concerned because you took money, I believe, did you, from Reed Hoffman, one of Epstein's closest confidants, not only once but twice in 2018 and 2024."

She never answered how many SARs were investigated.

🔴 THE TRUMP-EPSTEIN PHOTOGRAPHS:
Based on public reporting and witness statements, Whitehouse asked:

"There's been public reporting that Jeffrey Epstein showed people photos of President Trump with half naked young women. Do you know if the FBI found those photographs in their search of Jeffrey Epstein's safe or premises or otherwise?"

BONDI'S RESPONSE:
"You know, Senator Whitehouse, you sit here and make salacious remarks once again trying to slander President Trump left and right when you're the one who was taking money from one of Epstein's closest confidants... You're grilling me on President Trump and some photograph with Epstein. Come on."

She never answered whether the FBI found the photos.

WHITEHOUSE PRESSED AGAIN: "The question is, did the FBI find those photographs that have been discussed publicly by a witness who claimed Jeffrey Epstein showed them to him? You don't know anything about that?"

Bondi remained silent.

⚠️ THE PATTERN OF EVASION:

Throughout the exchange, Bondi used three tactics to avoid answering:

1️⃣ CLAIM CONFIDENTIALITY:
- "Pending litigation"
- "Personnel matters"
- "Sealed testimony"

2️⃣ DEFER TO SUBORDINATES:
- "Talk to the FBI"
- "Ask Director Patel"
- "Discuss this with the Marshals"

3️⃣ PERSONAL ATTACKS:
- "You work with dark money groups"
- "You pushed legislation to subsidize your wife's company"
- "You took money from Epstein's confidant Reed Hoffman"

🏛️ WHY THIS MATTERS:

The Attorney General runs the Department of Justice. When Congress asks:
- What happened to taxpayer money given to an FBI informant?
- How many financial red flags on Epstein were investigated?
- Did the FBI find evidence related to a former president?

...the AG should be able to provide factual answers or explain why she can't.

Bondi did neither. She deflected, attacked, and stonewalled.

FACT CHECK:
- Hoffman has donated to Democratic candidates, including those Whitehouse supports
- All donations are publicly disclosed as required by law
- Hoffman has denied any involvement in Epstein's criminal activities
- There is no evidence Whitehouse took illegal or undisclosed payments
