Angie Nixon just pulled off one of the biggest political upsets in Florida.
The Jacksonville state representative defeated Alexander Vindman in Florida’s Democratic U.S. Senate primary DESPITE being outspent roughly 16 to 1.
Nixon, a former union organizer and longtime opponent of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ policies, made her victory speech about the people who powered her campaign.
“We have proved that everyday people are more powerful than corporations and billionaires,” Nixon told supporters. “We went up against the political establishment, against millions of dollars of outside spending … and we won.”
She’ll face Republican Sen. Ashley Moody in November for the remaining two years of Marco Rubio’s former Senate term.
