HSP‘s & the effects of sensitive overstimulation

Sensory overstimulation is what can happen when the nervous system receives more input than it can comfortably process at once.
In some highly sensitive and neurodivergent people, research suggests sensory gating (the brain’s natural filtering system) may be less efficient — meaning external stimuli like sound, movement, light, and social input are filtered less automatically.
So environments like subways, crowded stations, squeaky train sounds, and constant motion aren’t just “busy”… they can become fully processing-intensive for the nervous system.
What it looks like for me is needing a lot of recovery afterwards just to feel regulated again 🧠✨
This isn’t about being “too sensitive” — it’s about how differently nervous systems can process input.
comment “relief” if you want to be the first one to receive an interactive companion I will launch June 1st for overwhelmed sensitive women.
