Tips for highly sensitive people ~ HSP 🍃

Our world wasn’t designed for highly sensitive people, we feel more intensely and get hurt far more easily. Being more thick skinned and able to manage the demands of life is often far more celebrated.

But about 15% - 20% of the world’s population are highly sensitive people. I often wonder how many of us are just getting through life thinking we aren’t able to cope with the constant fast pace and demands of the world.

But being highly sensitive isn’t a flaw, and it doesn’t mean you’re broken. It’s a gentle strength that allows you to feel this world deeply.

Instead of numbing out by scrolling or distracting yourself when things feel overstimulating, here are some things I do for my nervous system to feel calm, in control, and at peace again:

-Turn your phone to airplane mode and lie down while listening to gentle music. HSPs need extra time to process even the events of daily life.

-Drink hot tea or take a warm shower. Water is very sensory and healing, and it can help you feel recalibrated.

-Ground yourself in nature. Go for a walk barefoot or without technology and reconnect with the earth.

-Pray, rest and give your worries over to God.

-Play an instrument in a quiet space. Focusing on music like gentle guitar or harp helps you process emotions and feel relaxed.
