When you buy a new to you home the first thing to do is change the locks and secure the windows. While this can be a pricey first endeavor it doesn’t have to be. Anyone can change a lock and locksmiths charge much less if you bring the locks to them to rekey. So if you are a DIY’er who needs to save money, change them yourself. It ain’t hard and normally only takes a screwdriver. But there are tricks.

After that, if you didn’t get one of those nice “Move In Ready” places, at least spend some time to mark your new home so you recognize something as you. In this video I chose rainbows and hummingbirds.
